I enjoyed working on these social media posts for BHM with our Social Work placement student. There are so many terms and concepts that have broken through from the academic world into social justice movements and activism (e.g. Intersectionality, Microaggressions, to name a few). These have become crucial terms in anti-racism education and advocacy in general. Still, I am often surprised that folks do not even know these came from influential Black scholars and activists.
