This series of social media graphics were created to push our Anti-Racism workshop series in recognition of Black History Month. The Green, Red, and Black theme colors are drawn from the Pan-African movement. The colors were originally used in the banner, with its horizontal red, black, and green stripes by the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) at a conference in New York City in 1920. Learn more about that here. The colors and the flag became important and quickly gained currency within the protest movement in 2014 after Michael Brown was shot and killed by a white police officer. Protesters wielded the Pan-African flag as they marched through the streets of Ferguson.
